Pillar Bluff Vineyards is nestled on the alluvial soils of Pillar Bluff Creek. The soils are well drained with a sandy loam structure with underpinnings of fractured dolomite limestone. Great soil depth gives the vines exceptional drought tolerance and root zone. The vineyards bottom land location allows for rapid cooling at night so the heat of the day is lost quickly.
Eight French varietals go on the five acres. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot and Malbec make up the red blends know as Bordeaux’s. The white varieties include Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Viognier.
Come taste Texas Hill Country wines without the calcium impacts. Either grab a glass and wander the vineyard as the late afternoon sun becomes comfortable or just sit back under the pavilion and watch the sun set. See you soon. |
